POCSO case: court awards 20-year jail term

Hyderabad: A Fast Track Court awarded 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in a POCSO case involving aggravated sexual assault of a minor in Ranga Reddy district.

The Fast Track Special Court for Rape and POCSO cases at L.B. Nagar delivered the judgment in Sessions Case No. 209/2024. The case arose from Crime No. 16/2024 registered at Pahadishareef Police Station.

The court convicted Methre Ajay, a 26-year-old auto driver from Jalpally village, for committing aggravated penetrative sexual assault on a minor under his care.

POCSO case verdict orders jail term and compensation

The court sentenced the accused to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. It also imposed a fine of ₹42,000 and directed payment of ₹5 lakh as victim compensation.

Investigating officers ACP B Srinivas and ACP P Laxmikanth Reddy handled the case. The prosecution team included Additional Public Prosecutors Shobha Rani and P Satyanarayana.

Authorities said coordinated efforts by police, prosecution and court officials led to the conviction.
