Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials caught Line Inspector Prabhu Lal accepting a bribe of ₹6,000 in Hyderabad district on Wednesday.
Lal, posted at the Office of the Assistant Engineer (Operations), Pedda Amberpet, demanded the bribe to release service numbers for new electricity connections. These connections were related to a sanctioned 63 KV transformer and newly installed meters at an apartment near Sreyas College in Thattiannaram, Abdullapurmet Mandal.
The officials apprehended him at Taaza Tiffins in Bandiaguda while he took the bribe. They recovered the full amount and confirmed that Lal used his position to seek personal gain.
ACB officers arrested him and will present him before the Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally. Investigations continue. The complainant’s identity remains confidential for security reasons.
