Heavy rains flood Patancheru, traffic halted on Hyderabad–Mumbai highway

Hyderabad: Patancheru heavy rains lashed Sangareddy district from midnight, flooding roads and disrupting traffic on the Hyderabad–Mumbai National Highway-65. Floodwater entered the highway, leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded until traffic police intervened to clear the route.

According to reports, Patancheru received 62 mm of rainfall, while Aminpur recorded 60 mm, Jinnaram 59.7 mm, Ramachandrapuram 50.8 mm, and Gummadidala 48.4 mm.

Roads and colonies inundated

Flooding submerged several roads in the Patancheru constituency. In Muthangi village, waterlogged rice mill roads caused serious hardship to residents. Expansion works on NH-65 forced vehicles onto service roads, which also went under water, compounding traffic woes.

Markets hit by flooding

Heavy rains across Sangareddy district also flooded local markets. At the main yard, vegetable shops went under water after drains overflowed. Traders alleged that despite repeated appeals, officials failed to address drainage issues.

Traffic jams stretched from Sangareddy to Muthangi, while at Isnapur and Rudraram, floodwater stagnated on the national highway due to ongoing road expansion.
