Minister seethakka questions impact of Operation Kagar on tribal survival

HYDERABAD: Telangana Tribal Welfare Minister seethakka has voiced strong concerns over the impact of Operation Kagar—a joint anti-Maoist operation by central forces along the Telangana–Chhattisgarh border—on the lives and livelihoods of local tribal communities.

Speaking out against the ongoing security action, seethakka demanded that the Centre ensure the operation proceeds in accordance with constitutional protocols. She highlighted the plight of villagers in the border region of Kerri Gutta, where intensified surveillance and military presence have, she said, put the very survival of tribal populations at risk.

“Due to Operation Kagar, many families have lost access to their means of livelihood, and hunger and poverty are worsening in these areas,” she stated. She added that the constant sound of gunfire has created an atmosphere of fear and panic, forcing communities to live in terror.

The minister called for the immediate suspension of the operation and urged the central government to pursue dialogue with Maoist groups in order to prevent further disruption to tribal life.

seethakka’s remarks come amid rising tensions in the region, where tribal communities have repeatedly appealed for relief and a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
