Hyderabad: An Odisha girl was rescued from a suspected kidnapping in Qutubullapur after a Cuttack-based NGO alerted local police.
Tanvi Singh, a programme officer with the South Asia Women Foundation in Odisha’s Cuttack district, informed police that a 16-year-old girl from Sahira village had been taken to Bapucpalli against her will. Police said the suspects forcibly brought her to Telangana from her native village.
Tip-off from Odisha NGO led to swift police action
Bapucpalli police traced the girl using her mobile number and located her within hours. Officers rescued her safely and transferred her to the Suraram Sakhi Centre. Police said they informed both the girl’s parents and Odisha police.
The Odisha girl rescued had not been harmed and remained under protection. Police confirmed the suspects are absconding and efforts are underway to apprehend them.
