Hyderabad: Overcoming both personal and academic challenges, Nikisha has successfully joined the judiciary, following in the footsteps of her father, a senior judge, and her elder sister. Her achievement is especially remarkable as it came after she gave birth to twins and resumed her preparation for the judicial services examination.
Nikisha, daughter of K. Khusha—the Chief Judge of the City Small Causes Court in Hyderabad—initially pursued a career in software engineering after earning a BTech degree. While working in the tech industry, she also studied law and attempted the Judicial Services Examination in 2022. However, she was unsuccessful in her first attempt.
At the time, Nikisha was pregnant and later delivered twin children. Despite the physical and emotional demands of new motherhood, she resumed her studies and began preparing once again. Her determination paid off—she cleared the preliminary exam in 2024, passed the mains in November that year, and succeeded in the interview held in April 2025. She has now been appointed as a Junior Civil Judge.
Her elder sister, Bhavana, is also part of the judicial system and currently serves as the Fourth Additional Junior Civil Judge in Mahbubnagar. The sisters’ career choices reflect the deep influence of their father’s dedication to the judiciary.
K. Khusha, who has long served in the legal field, expressed immense pride and happiness at both his daughters embracing the profession he devoted his life to.
