New Delhi: A massive wildfire in New Jersey has triggered large-scale evacuations and widespread damage, with over 3,000 people relocated to safety and more than 1,300 buildings affected. The fire, which broke out near Barnegat and Lacey townships, caused significant disruption and prompted emergency measures.
On Tuesday night, the busy Garden State Parkway was temporarily closed between Barnegat and Lacey due to the advancing flames. The Ocean County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on Wednesday that the highway has since been reopened.
Barnegat police stated that evacuees were provided shelter at two local high schools, where emergency arrangements were put in place. The fire continues to be monitored closely by local authorities, as emergency services work to contain the blaze and protect surrounding communities.
