Hyderabad: The NEET UG 2025 examination, the national-level entrance test for MBBS admissions, is scheduled to take place this Sunday across India. In Telangana, a total of 72,507 candidates will appear for the exam at 190 centres across 24 towns, with the highest number – 62 centres – set up in the Hyderabad district alone.
Organised by the National Testing Agency (NTA), this year’s NEET is being conducted under tight security following the question paper leak controversy in 2024. In light of those concerns, state officials are ensuring a seamless and transparent process.
Telangana’s Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao have already held review meetings and issued detailed instructions to district collectors to supervise exam arrangements. All collectors have been directed to ensure strict implementation of security protocols and coordination with local law enforcement.
The exam will be held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and candidates are required to report to the centres between 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM. Late arrivals beyond this time will not be allowed entry. Candidates have been advised not to carry watches, electronic gadgets, shoes, or any prohibited items into the exam hall.
Interestingly, the number of NEET applications from Telangana has dropped by 7,306 this year compared to 2024, when 79,813 students had registered. Officials have not commented on the reasons behind the dip.
With preparations in full swing and officials on high alert, authorities hope to conduct a smooth and fair examination for thousands of aspiring medical students.
