NDC officers visit Telangana, review economic growth

Hyderabad: The National Defence College (NDC) officers visited Telangana as part of a five-day study tour on economic security and governance, with senior officials presenting the State’s development profile.

The delegation visited the Secretariat on Tuesday. Officials then briefed the NDC officers on progress across economic and social sectors.

Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao outlined Telangana’s growth since its formation in 2014. He said the State recorded strong gains in GSDP and per capita income over the past decade.

He attributed the growth to sustained public and private investments. At the same time, he highlighted the State’s favourable investment climate, skilled workforce and cultural strengths.

The Chief Secretary said Telangana remains among the fastest-growing States. Moreover, he added that the government targets a $3 trillion economy by 2047.

Special Chief Secretary Navin Mittal said the State leads the country in per capita energy consumption. He also noted that renewable energy capacity has surpassed conventional sources.

Further, he said the government is focusing on pumped storage and battery systems to ensure stable power supply.

Principal Secretary Yogita Rana highlighted education initiatives. She said the State is setting up residential schools across 105 constituencies.

In addition, she pointed to skill development programmes and collaboration with Tata Technologies to establish advanced labs in ITIs.

Planning Secretary Gaurav Uppal said the State achieved a 10.7% growth rate last year, higher than the national average. He also added that Telangana secured investments worth ₹5.75 lakh crore at a recent summit.

He cited expansion in the IT sector through T-Hub, WE Hub and T-Works. Besides, he referred to new policies aimed at boosting sports and tourism.

Officials said the government is developing Bharat Future City across 30,000 acres. They also highlighted plans to develop the Musi riverfront.

The delegation, led by Joint Secretary Anvita Sinha, appreciated the State’s governance model. Later, members held an interaction with officials.
