Hyderabad: Director General of Police Shivadhar Reddy on Tuesday said the Nampally FSL fire did not destroy any crucial case files and rejected reports suggesting otherwise.
After reviewing municipal election preparations at the DGP’s office, Shivadhar Reddy told the media that police were continuing the investigation into the incident. Officers, he said, were assessing the extent of damage caused by the fire.
According to the DGP, the blaze damaged the server room at the Forensic Science Laboratory. However, technical teams have begun retrieving data using available backups and are working continuously to recover information.
Nampally FSL fire: Vote for Note case files intact
Rejecting speculation around sensitive cases, Shivadhar Reddy clarified that the fire did not affect files linked to the Vote for Note case. He said police had handed over all related records to the court back in 2021.
On other cases, the DGP said police had already submitted forensic reports in the phone tapping matter. Teams are also retrieving data related to seven other important cases, he added.
Meanwhile, the department continues to coordinate with technical experts to ensure maximum data recovery. Shivadhar Reddy cautioned that unverified reports about the loss of sensitive records were creating unnecessary confusion among the public.
