Nalgonda highway crash kills two drivers near Narketpally

Hyderabad: Two drivers died in a highway accident in Nalgonda district after two lorries collided near Narketpally on Tuesday.

The accident occurred on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway near the Nalgonda X-Road flyover.

According to local residents, a bus belonging to Mojo Travels overtook a lorry and moved ahead. During the manoeuvre the bus reportedly brushed against the lorry.

The lorry driver stopped the bus and confronted its crew on the road. An argument then broke out between the bus driver and the lorry driver.

Meanwhile another speeding lorry approached the spot. The vehicle rammed into the stationary lorry during the altercation.

As a result two drivers became trapped between the vehicles. They died on the spot.

Police identified the deceased as Bangarayya and Srinivas.

Two others sustained serious injuries in the accident. The injured include the bus cleaner and another person.

After receiving information, police reached the accident site and shifted the bodies to the Nalgonda Government Hospital for post-mortem.

The accident also caused heavy traffic congestion on the highway. Traffic police later cleared the road and restored vehicle movement.

Police registered a case based on the statement of bus cleaner Suresh and began an investigation into the incident.
