Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Friday issued a stern warning against indiscipline in the party, asserting that no leader is above its ideology and organisational discipline.
In remarks widely viewed as a veiled reference to recently resigned Goshamahal MLA Raja Singh, Rao said, “It doesn’t matter how big a leader you are — in BJP, everyone must adhere to party discipline and values. Violations will lead to consequences.”
He made it clear that even if some leaders choose to leave the party, it would not amount to a significant loss. “No one is bigger than the party. Even if someone walks away, the organisation remains unaffected,” Rao said.
He also reminded cadre that the party has always prioritised discipline, citing the example of Bharatiya Jana Sangh co-founder Balraj Madhok, who was suspended for violating party norms. “Let no one forget that,” he added.
The BJP chief’s comments come amid ongoing dissent in the state unit, triggered in part by Raja Singh’s public criticism of the leadership and eventual resignation. While Rao didn’t mention Singh by name, political observers linked his statement directly to that fallout.
Party insiders say the state leadership under Ramchander Rao is looking to restore order and assert control as internal challenges grow ahead of the next round of elections.
