Hyderabad: The southwest monsoon has now fully advanced into Telangana, setting the stage for widespread rainfall across the state. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued heavy rain alerts for multiple districts over the next 72 hours.
Scattered moderate to heavy showers are expected today, tomorrow, and Friday in several parts of Telangana. On Wednesday night, very heavy rainfall is likely in isolated pockets of Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts.
Meanwhile, residents in Nirmal, Nizamabad, Khammam, Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, and Mahabubnagar should brace for moderate rainfall accompanied by lightning, thunder, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph.
The weather department has also forecast very heavy rainfall on Thursday in the districts of Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, and Peddapalli. Thunderstorms with heavy downpours are also likely in areas including Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Hyderabad, and surrounding districts.
An ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued for 15 districts, signalling the possibility of intense weather. Thunderstorms and gusty winds may impact all districts on Thursday, meteorologists warned.
