Miyapur theft case arrest exposes night burglary at wine shop

Hyderabad: The Miyapur theft case arrest led to the capture of two accused involved in a night burglary at a wine shop, with police recovering cash, a mobile phone, and a vehicle.

Miyapur Police detected the house-breaking night offence at JS Wine Mart in Reddy Colony under its jurisdiction. The burglary took place between the night of March 14 and the morning of March 15.

Police arrested Maddala Srinivasa Rao, a 34-year-old Rapido driver, and Akash Kumar, a 22-year-old mason, in connection with the case. Investigators said Srinivasa Rao had prior involvement in criminal cases registered at Suraram and Pet-Basheerabad police stations.

Authorities seized Rs.9,500 in cash, a OnePlus mobile phone, and a Pulsar vehicle from the accused.

According to the Miyapur theft case arrest investigation, the complainant worked as a cashier at the wine shop for three months. He closed the shop around 11:30 pm on March 14.

However, when he reopened the shop at about 10:30 am the next day, he found the roof sheets near the storeroom damaged. He also noticed both cash counters broken.

Officials said the accused stole coins worth around Rs.85,000 from the counters. Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and launched an investigation.

During questioning, the accused admitted that they had planned the theft in advance. They surveyed the shop before committing the crime.

They later executed the burglary at night by entering through the roof after damaging it. Police said the duo targeted the shop due to expected cash storage.

Miyapur theft case arrest prompts police advisory

Following the Miyapur theft case arrest, police issued an advisory to commercial establishments to prevent similar incidents.

Officials urged shop owners to install strong doors and reinforced rooftops. They also stressed the need for CCTV surveillance, including motion-sensor cameras.

Police advised business owners to deploy security guards and ensure proper night security arrangements. They further asked shopkeepers not to keep large amounts of cash overnight and to deposit earnings safely after business hours.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police, KPHB Division, Kukatpally, said such precautions would reduce risks and improve overall security in commercial areas.
