Hyderabad: A bank burglary attempt targeted the Telangana Grameena Bank branch at Yellambavi village in Choutuppal mandal of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district early Monday, but a security alarm forced the suspects to flee before they could break in.
According to police, unidentified persons reached the bank, located on the main road, around 2 am. They came prepared with a gas cutter and began cutting the locks of the main shutter as part of a pre-planned operation.

However, the bank’s security siren suddenly went off while they were cutting the shutter. As a result, residents living nearby woke up and rushed onto the streets to check the disturbance. Seeing people gather in large numbers, the suspects panicked and escaped from the spot.
Locals immediately informed the police. Officers reached the scene and conducted a detailed inspection of the premises. They identified clear marks on the shutter showing an attempt to cut through the locks.
Police confirmed that the suspects failed to gain entry into the bank. Cash and gold stored inside remained safe, officials said during the preliminary inquiry.
Investigators are now examining CCTV footage from the bank to trace the movements of the suspects and identify those involved. Meanwhile, the incident has triggered concern among villagers, who demanded tighter security at banks and ATMs in the area.
Based on a complaint filed by bank staff, police registered a case and launched further investigation.
