Media accreditation drive tightened under strict scrutiny

Hyderabad: The State government tightened the media accreditation drive, allowing only eligible journalists to receive accreditation cards after strict scrutiny.

The State Media Accreditation Committee reviewed applications during a meeting held at the FDC Board Room. Telangana Media Academy Chairman K. Srinivas Reddy and I&PR Special Commissioner CH Priyanka led the session.

Officials said they examined each application under government norms before granting approval. As a result, the media accreditation now follows stricter checks to ensure fairness.

They stressed that authorities must follow guidelines without deviation. Therefore, only qualified applicants will receive accreditation cards.

Officials also urged eligible journalists to apply online without delay. Timely submissions, they said, will help speed up verification.

Media accreditation drive expands to districts

As part of the media accreditation, the committee will review proposals sent by District Media Accreditation Committees through District Collectors. Meanwhile, officials have asked district authorities to accelerate the process.

They said faster scrutiny at the district level will improve efficiency. Moreover, it will ensure that eligible journalists receive accreditation without delay.

The committee scheduled its next meeting for the first week of April. During that session, members will review pending applications and new proposals.

Director of Information and Public Relations Kishore Babu, Additional Director D.S. Jagan, and other members attended the meeting. They discussed steps to strengthen the media accreditation drive across Telangana.
