Hyderabad: A man in Telangana’s Medak district allegedly assaulted his father and severed his tongue over a dispute involving ₹6,000 received under a state farming scheme.
The incident took place in Aurangabad Tanda village. The victim, Banoth Keriya, a small farmer, reportedly had ₹6,000 credited to his bank account through the Rythu Bharosa scheme. His younger son, Santosh, 28, demanded the entire amount for himself.
Keriya told his son that he had already spent ₹2,000 on medical treatment due to ill health and could give him the remaining ₹4,000. Santosh allegedly refused and insisted on receiving the full amount.
The argument escalated, and in a violent outburst, Santosh reportedly attacked his father and used a farming tool to cut off his tongue.
Keriya was rushed to a hospital in critical condition. He is currently under medical care. The incident has triggered shock and outrage in the local community.
