Matangi Swarnalatha predicts rains, warns of epidemic and fire, demands blood sacrifice at Ujjaini Bonalu

Hyderabad: Matangi Swarnalatha, speaking during the ‘Rangam’ ritual on the second day of the Ujjaini Mahankali Bonalu in Secunderabad, warned of an impending epidemic and a spate of fire accidents, urging devotees to remain alert and perform all religious rituals properly.

Standing atop an earthen pot, Swarnalatha issued her predictions in a trance state, stating that rains would arrive as expected this year and crops would flourish. However, she cautioned that a deadly disease would soon spread and fire-related mishaps would increase, placing responsibility on the failure to properly conduct her worship.

Swarnalatha criticised the public for neglecting children while she, in contrast, was protecting all like a mother bearing them in her womb. “You abandon your own children, but I carry you within and watch over you,” she declared.

She rebuked organisers for again making mistakes despite repeated warnings in previous years. She stressed that while people consume offerings, they withhold blood sacrifices meant for her. “You eat what’s offered, but you deny me what is mine. If my pujas are not performed correctly, people will spit blood and die,” she said.

Swarnalatha claimed that failure to honour her demands especially for blood offerings was behind the rising death toll. “I don’t interfere in fate. Everyone must endure what time brings. But I will not stand in the way,” she warned. She insisted her image should be freely installed and demanded five weeks of continuous offerings and prayers.

“If you fail to show me blood, turmoil will follow. Even placing my idol is being obstructed,” she said, asserting that she always stands by her devotees but requires proper rituals to do so.
