Masked gang breaks into HDFC ATMs in Hyderabad, escapes with cash

Hyderabad: A gang of masked thieves looted three ATMs inside an HDFC centre in Jeedimetla’s Gajularamaram area late on July 8, escaping with a large sum of cash after an hour-long break-in, police said.

The robbers entered the ATM facility at Markandeya Nagar junction around midnight. CCTV footage shows three men using gas cutters to dismantle the machines and collect the cash, spending nearly an hour inside undisturbed.

Police suspect the gang operated with detailed planning. All three wore masks and caps to avoid identification. Notably, the ATM centre’s security alarm was triggered only after the suspects had been inside for over an hour.

Jeedimetla police responded soon after the alert and cordoned off the area. Clues teams collected forensic evidence, while special teams have been formed to track the culprits.

Officials are scanning surveillance footage from surrounding localities to identify vehicle movements and suspicious activity. Four police teams have been tasked with cracking the case, and investigators say they are confident of making arrests soon.
