Hyderabad: A man allegedly hacked his wife to death with an axe at Mettupalli village in Kannepalli mandal of Mancherial district late Wednesday, police said.
According to Sub-Inspector Gangaram, the accused, identified as Mudimadugula Tirupati, attacked his wife Mudimadugula Tulasi, 35, after a heated quarrel triggered by his suspicion over her fidelity. The man was reportedly inebriated when he assaulted her with an axe, leading to heavy bleeding and her death on the spot.
Police said the accused confessed the crime to relatives on Thursday morning, following which the incident spread through the village. Locals alerted police, and Tandoor Circle Inspector Kumaraswamy along with SI Gangaram reached the scene and completed the inquest.
Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s father, Durke Shankar, a case was registered. Investigation is underway, police added.
