Man killed in goods train collision in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A man died after a goods train struck him while he was crossing railway tracks in Hyderabad on Wednesday night, police said.

The incident occurred at about 8.50 pm between Santnagar and Bhudevinagar on the down line at kilometre 9/42-4. According to police, the RC-13 goods train hit the man while he attempted to cross the tracks, killing him on the spot.

The loco pilot on duty noticed the accident and immediately alerted railway authorities. Subsequently, the Secunderabad SHO registered a case as No.115/2026 and began an investigation.

Police later identified the deceased as Tirupati Shekhar, 35, a native of Narsapur in Medak district. He had been living in the Alwal area for the past few months and worked as a daily wage labourer.

Investigators said Shekhar was addicted to alcohol. Due to frequent family disputes, his wife had earlier left with their two children and returned to her mother’s house.

After completing legal formalities, police conducted a post-mortem examination on the body. The remains were later handed over to the family members.
