Hyderabad: A 37-year-old man died of electrocution in Kukatpally on Tuesday while putting up a flex banner for a temple event, police said.
The deceased, identified as Gnaneshwar of Bhagyanagar Colony, was reportedly helping organisers of the Sai Baba temple in connection with Guru Purnima preparations. He operated a local shuttle service and had parked his auto nearby before climbing the temple arch to mount the banner.
During the installation, Gnaneshwar came into contact with a live electric wire and was electrocuted instantly. Flames that erupted from the short-circuit spread to an adjacent bar and restaurant, prompting a fire emergency.
Fire services arrived swiftly and managed to contain the blaze before it spread further. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
