Hyderabad: A severe road accident occurred in Telangana’s Rangareddy district on Sunday, injuring at least 34 people—four of them critically—when an RTC bus collided head-on with a private travels bus near Tummaluru village in Maheshwaram mandal.
According to initial reports, both buses were carrying a high number of passengers—around 150 in total—when the crash occurred on the Hyderabad–Kalwakurthy route. The collision caused chaos on the busy Srisailam highway, triggering a massive traffic jam and bringing vehicular movement to a standstill for several hours.
Local residents who witnessed the crash immediately alerted the police. Responding swiftly, the police rushed to the scene and, with help from bystanders, transported the injured to nearby hospitals. Medical staff at the hospital confirmed that four passengers were in a critical condition, while over 30 others sustained serious injuries.

The accident has once again drawn attention to safety concerns on the Srisailam route, which sees heavy traffic, particularly over weekends and holidays. Eyewitnesses said the crash impact was severe, although the exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are examining whether speeding, negligence, or a mechanical fault led to the collision. Meanwhile, efforts are underway to clear the traffic congestion and resume normal flow on the highway.
