Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud on Thursday called the 42 percent BC reservation in local bodies a social revolution in India’s history. He said the Congress Party and the Telangana government had worked relentlessly to make this possible.
Speaking during a party Zoom meeting with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Goud urged party workers to take the message to the grassroots. According to him, the decision showcased the Congress government’s strong commitment to equality and social justice. Moreover, he emphasized that every party cadre must highlight the government’s achievement among the people.

Meanwhile, Goud pointed out that the local body election notification had already been released. The nomination process for MPTC and ZPTC polls in the first phase also began across several districts. Therefore, he asked party workers to treat these elections as a serious responsibility and stay actively engaged.
Additionally, Goud said the All India Congress Committee (AICC) had launched a nationwide campaign against vote theft. As part of this drive, Telangana Congress will collect signatures from citizens until October 15. Each village, he said, should gather at least 100 signatures and forward them to the AICC headquarters.
He further directed DCC presidents, MLAs, and constituency in-charges to monitor the signature campaign closely. In his words, the initiative would demonstrate that the Congress remains committed to protecting democracy and clean elections.
