Governor highlights spiritual significance of Maha Ashtami in Telangana

Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said Maha Ashtami symbolises the worship of divine energy and urged people to overcome negative tendencies through devotion. The Maha Ashtami celebrations were held under the aegis of Lok Bhavan in the State.

The Governor attended the Chaitra Navaratri Maha Ashtami Phalahara programme organised at Sanskriti Community Hall. Consequently, the event marked the first such celebration in Telangana under Lok Bhavan.

Shukla inaugurated the programme along with First Lady Janaki Shukla by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Moreover, he said he has participated in such events for over 35 years.

He expressed satisfaction at organising the event after assuming office in Telangana. Therefore, he hoped the tradition would continue in the coming years.

The Governor said Maha Ashtami represents the worship of Goddess Durga, the embodiment of divine energy. In addition, he urged devotees to focus on inner purification.

He explained that Phalahara Deeksha is not just a dietary practice. Instead, it serves as a discipline that promotes mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.

Shukla called upon people to strengthen peace and social harmony. Meanwhile, he stressed mutual respect and cooperation for the State’s progress.

He prayed that Goddess Durga’s blessings bring health, happiness, and prosperity to all. Several dignitaries, including Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy and other public representatives, attended the event.
