Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested M. Sudha, Deputy State Tax Officer at Madhapur, after she was caught red-handed accepting a ₹8,000 bribe to process a GST registration for a complainant’s company.
Officials from City Range–1 conducted the trap operation on July 8 following a complaint alleging that the officer demanded the bribe to show official favour in the registration process. The bribe amount was recovered from Sudha at her instance during the operation.
According to ACB, the accused performed her public duty dishonestly and in violation of her official responsibilities. She has been taken into custody and will be produced before a competent court for judicial remand.
The case is currently under investigation.
ACB has urged citizens to report any demands for bribes or misuse of official authority through their toll-free helpline or district units.
