HYDERABAD: A speeding lorry caused a major accident near the Miyapur Metro Station late on Monday night, killing one traffic constable and injuring two others.
The incident occurred around 11 PM near pillar number 600 of the metro line, where traffic constables Simhachalam, Rajavardhan, and Vijender from the Miyapur Traffic Police Station were on duty. The officers were regulating no-entry vehicles in the area when the mishap took place.
According to reports, the lorry had just unloaded sacks of rice in Bharat Nagar, Kukatpally, and was heading towards Miyapur at high speed. The driver lost control and crashed into the traffic booth, which then collapsed onto the on-duty constables.
Constable Simhachalam succumbed to his injuries on the spot, while Rajavardhan and Vijender sustained serious injuries.
Police reached the site immediately and launched an investigation into the incident.
