The Cyberabad Police have announced a liquor ban in certain areas ahead of the Telangana Legislative Council elections. The restrictions will be in place from 4:00 PM on 25th February to 4:00 PM on 27th February 2025, covering all liquor outlets under the jurisdiction of Kollur and R.C. Puram Police Stations.
HYDERABAD: The Cyberabad Police have announced a liquor ban in certain areas in view of the upcoming Biennial Elections to the Telangana State Legislative Council from Graduates’ and Teachers’ constituencies.
As per statutory provisions under Section 135-C of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, Cyberabad Commissioner of Police Avinash Mohanty, IPS, has ordered the closure of all liquor outlets, including toddy shops, wine shops, bars in restaurants and star hotels, and registered clubs under the jurisdiction of Kollur and R.C. Puram Police Stations.
The ban will be in effect from 4:00 PM on 25th February to 4:00 PM on 27th February 2025, aligning with the polling date on 27th February 2025 in the Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar Graduates’ and Teachers’ constituencies.
The restriction also extends to non-proprietary clubs, star hotels, restaurants, and hotels, even if they possess valid liquor licenses. The enforcement aims to maintain law and order during the electoral process.
