Legislators cultural programme held at Ravindra Bharathi

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy inaugurated the legislators’ cultural programme last night during the Assembly Budget Sessions, lighting the ceremonial lamp at Ravindra Bharathi.

The legislators’ cultural programme, organised under the aegis of the Sports and Cultural Departments, drew participation from elected representatives across the State. Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, Ministers, and legislators attended the event.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said public representatives, despite demanding schedules, took part in sports and cultural activities and set an example for students. He noted that such participation influenced lakhs of young people across Telangana.

He observed that many individuals remained active in sports and arts during their student years. However, they gradually moved away from these pursuits later in life. Therefore, he stressed the need to revive and sustain such talents.

Referring to current concerns, the Chief Minister said sections of youth drifted towards harmful habits. In response, the government introduced CM Cup competitions from village to State level to identify and promote hidden talent among students.

He emphasised that academic success alone did not define achievement. Instead, he said excellence in sports could also secure strong career opportunities and long-term growth.

Recalling earlier practices, he said legislative sports and cultural events were regularly conducted during the united Andhra Pradesh Assembly sessions. However, these activities declined after the formation of Telangana. Recently, authorities revived them following requests from legislative leaders.

He urged public representatives to take part in such programmes beyond political affiliations. At the same time, he appreciated the efforts of the Sports and Cultural Departments in organising the event.

Meanwhile, MLAs and MLCs presented cultural performances that received wide appreciation. The Chief Minister congratulated participants, including Minister Vakati Srihari, for their performances.

At the conclusion, the Chief Minister distributed prizes to the winners of the two-day Sports and Cultural Meet. He also received the Player of the Match award in a football match from Gutha Sukender Reddy.
