Laura Williams takes charge as US Consul General in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Laura E Williams assumed charge on Thursday as the new US Consul General in Hyderabad, bringing extensive experience in diplomacy, technology, and innovation from her tenure in the US Senior Foreign Service.

Williams said she aimed to strengthen the US-India partnership across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha, focusing on deepening collaboration and fostering people-to-people ties. “I am committed to building on our strong foundation of collaboration and the growing people-to-people ties that drive growth and shared prosperity,” she said.

Before her appointment in Hyderabad, Williams served as Deputy Chief Information Officer for Enterprise Services at the US Department of State, overseeing global information technology platforms that connect Washington-based diplomats with US embassies worldwide.

She also acknowledged outgoing Consul General Jennifer Larson, praising her leadership and service during her tenure in Hyderabad.
