Minister reviews budget proposals for labour, ESI and training departments

Hyderabad: Telangana Labour Minister G. Vivek Venkatswamy attended a budget preparatory meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the Labour Minister presented the budget requirements of the labour, Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) and employment training departments.

He sought adequate allocations to strengthen welfare programmes and improve services provided to workers.

Labour Minister outlines priorities for welfare and skill training

Vivek Venkatswamy said the labour department has been working actively to protect workers’ rights and ensure their welfare.

He said the employment and training department is focusing on equipping youth with skills aligned to new-age technologies.

According to him, Advanced Training Centres (ATCs) are introducing new courses to prepare young people for emerging industries.

The minister also said ATCs have started language training courses to improve overseas employment opportunities for youth.

Officials from the employment and training department explained the proposed programmes and their budget requirements during the meeting.

Vivek Venkatswamy said providing timely and quality medical treatment to insured persons remains the top priority of the ESI department.

Mines Department revenue and plans discussed

The meeting also reviewed matters related to the mines department.

Officials presented details on the department’s activities and revenue generation.

Senior officials who attended the meeting included Finance Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Labour Commissioner Pamela Sathpathi, Director of Employment and Training Kanthi Wesley, Telangana State Mineral Development Corporation Director Bhavesh Mishra and Mines Secretary N. Sridhar.

Officials from the labour and employment departments also participated in the discussions.
