Hyderabad: A major fire broke out in Kukatpally after a gas leak at a refilling unit in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar triggered a sudden blaze on Tuesday night, officials said.
Preliminary findings indicated that gas leaked during the refilling process, causing flames to erupt instantly. Officials said around eight gas cylinders exploded, intensifying the fire and spreading panic across Kukatpally.
The blasts sent thick flames and smoke into the air. As a result, residents in nearby houses rushed outside in fear. Locals immediately alerted emergency services as the fire spread rapidly in the Kukatpally locality.

Fire engines arrived at the scene soon after receiving the information and began firefighting operations. Crews worked to bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings in Kukatpally.
Officials said there were no reports of loss of life in the incident. However, teams continued to assess property damage caused by the blaze.
Police and fire department officials cordoned off the locality as a precaution. They said a detailed probe would determine the exact cause of the fire and examine whether the refilling unit followed safety norms.
