Auto driver dies by suicide in Kukatpally after domestic dispute

HYDERABAD: A 43-year-old auto driver ended his life by hanging from a tree near a deserted area in front of Lodha Apartments under Kukatpally police station limits, following ongoing marital discord.

The deceased has been identified as Bheem Rao, a resident of Yellammabanda, who had been working as an auto-rickshaw driver. According to police, Rao had not been living at home for the past two months after a quarrel with his wife, reportedly triggered by his habitual drinking.

Five days ago, he returned home briefly and requested ₹500 for vehicle repairs, but left soon after and did not return. Two days before his death, he reportedly called his wife to ask if he could come back home. She is said to have replied that he could return only if he gave up alcohol.

Neighbours alerted the police after discovering his body hanging from a tree. Kukatpally police reached the scene promptly and shifted the body for post-mortem examination.

Investigators believe that Rao had been under emotional distress due to the frequent arguments with his wife and his struggles with alcoholism, which ultimately led to his decision to take his own life.
