KTR presents Telangana growth story at Columbia Business School

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao said Telangana emerged as a model of governance and innovation, presenting the Telangana growth story at Columbia Business School in New York.

He addressed students, entrepreneurs, and investors at the 21st Annual India Business Conference. He described Telangana as the “most successful startup state of independent India” under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. He said the state built institutions and investor confidence instead of waiting for opportunities.

KTR said the ‘Telangana Decade’ reflected dignity, aspiration, and steady progress. He noted that Telangana achieved major economic gains within 10 years of its formation. He added that clear leadership helped accelerate development in a diverse country like India.

He stressed that India’s future growth would depend on states using their strengths. He compared India to a Formula 1 grid with 28 engines, where each state drives progress through competition. He said investment decisions are made at the state and city levels despite national visibility.

Telangana’s growth story is driven by IT expansion

KTR said Telangana’s technology sector expanded sharply between 2014 and 2023. IT exports rose from Rs. 57,000 crore to Rs. 2.72 lakh crore. At the same time, employment increased from 3.23 lakh to nearly 10 lakh jobs.

He stated that Hyderabad became a preferred global investment hub due to fast approvals and strong infrastructure. He highlighted that major multinational firms set up large campuses in the city. He said Amazon established its largest global campus in Hyderabad, while companies such as Google, Apple, Meta, Salesforce, Uber, and Micron expanded operations.

KTR credited policy clarity and governance speed for attracting global investments. He said Telangana demonstrated how focused leadership can deliver rapid economic transformation within a short period.
