KPHB police bust drug racket near JNTU Metro, four held

Hyderabad: KPHB police busted a drug racket near JNTU Metro Station and arrested four persons, seizing ganja, MDMA and LSD during a late-night operation.

Acting on specific intelligence, Sub-Inspector M. Mallesham led the operation with staff and witnesses. Police conducted the raid near Ratnadeep Super Market in KPHB Colony between 12:30 am and 1:30 am.

During surveillance, officers noticed suspicious movement around a scooter. Subsequently, they intercepted the suspects and searched.

KPHB police seize ganja, MDMA and LSD in raid

Police seized 150 grams of ganja, 4 grams of MDMA and nine LSD blot papers from the accused. In addition, they confiscated five mobile phones and the scooter used in the operation.

The accused were identified as Bendi Sai Bhanu Prakash, Saripalli Anoop Kumar alias Pandu, Shobith Alenmani and Ripunjay Jodha. All four worked in different professions and resided in various parts of the city.

During interrogation, the prime accused said they sourced drugs from Bengaluru through a contact named Abhishek. They then sold the substances in Hyderabad at higher prices.

They used courier services to transport drugs. Meanwhile, they carried out payments through digital platforms such as PhonePe and Google Pay.

Police said another associate, Anirudh, assisted with the distribution. Therefore, officials launched efforts to trace and apprehend others involved in the network.

Officers completed formal procedures, including documentation and seizure records, in the presence of witnesses. Subsequently, they took all four accused into custody.

Police said further investigation is underway to identify the wider supply chain. They also urged citizens, especially youth, to stay away from narcotics and report suspicious activities.
