Hyderabad: An ATM robbery triggered panic on Koti Bank Street on Saturday morning after armed assailants opened fire at a man near the State Bank of India headquarters and escaped with Rs 6 lakh.
Police said the incident occurred around 7 am when a man identified as Rashid reached Bank Street to deposit Rs 6 lakh at a bank ATM. He carried the cash during the early morning hours. While he approached the ATM kiosk, a group of miscreants noticed the money and began following him closely.
ATM robbery leaves man injured
Sensing danger, Rashid tried to flee from the area. As he attempted to escape, the attackers fired at him, snatched the cash, and fled. During the ATM robbery, Rashid suffered a bullet injury to his leg and collapsed at the spot.
After receiving information, Sultan Bazar police rushed to the scene and secured the area. Police shifted Rashid to a nearby hospital, where doctors treated him. His condition remained stable. Police registered a case and launched an investigation. Teams later examined CCTV footage from the scene and nearby streets to identify those involved in the ATM robbery.
