HYDERABAD: Congress MLA from Munugodu, Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, has openly expressed his desire for the Home Ministry portfolio in the upcoming Telangana cabinet expansion. Speaking to the media at the Assembly, Rajagopal Reddy stated that while he is hopeful of securing a ministerial position, he has a personal preference for the Home Ministry but is ready to take on any responsibility assigned to him.
The MLA highlighted his experience in handling political responsibilities, particularly during the Bhuvanagiri MP elections, as a testament to his capability. However, he clarified that he has not received any official communication from the Congress leadership regarding a ministerial post.
Referring to discussions in Delhi about the cabinet expansion, Rajagopal Reddy emphasized that merit and capability should be the key criteria for selecting ministers. He also dismissed speculation that his brother’s ministerial role might impact his own chances.
In a striking comment, Rajagopal Reddy said that if he were to actively lobby for positions, he could aim for the Chief Minister’s post itself. However, he maintained that he does not engage in such lobbying and prefers to rely on his work and achievements.
His remarks come amid increasing anticipation over the Telangana cabinet expansion, with several aspirants vying for ministerial positions.
