Hyderabad: Union Minister and BJP Telangana president G. Kishan Reddy on Thursday visited the Turmeric Board office in Nizamabad district and confirmed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the National Turmeric Board headquarters on June 29.
Reddy said the establishment of the board was a long-standing demand of turmeric farmers and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for fulfilling the promise. He said various parties had made commitments to farmers but failed to implement them.
He stated that the Centre had received requests from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and other states to host the board headquarters, but it was finally sanctioned to Nizamabad. A local farmer has been appointed as chairman of the board, he added.
The inauguration will include the unveiling of the board’s logo and a public meeting where Amit Shah will address farmers. Reddy urged farmers from across Telangana to attend, stating that Nizamabad has historically been at the forefront of agricultural movements.
He described the board’s creation as a non-political initiative intended to benefit farmers, improve turmeric prices, and create employment through value-added products. He said the board will also aim to raise India’s profile in global turmeric markets.
Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Amit Shah, along with senior officials, are expected to review and discuss the board’s future activities following the launch. Reddy inspected preparations at the Polytechnic College Ground where the public meeting will be held.
