Hyderabad: Police busted a Keesara dacoity gang and apprehended six accused for allegedly luring victims through a social media app and robbing them. Officials said the Keesara dacoity gang targeted individuals using deceptive methods before carrying out robberies in isolated areas.
According to police, the case was registered as Crime No. 312/2026 under Section 310(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita at Keesara Police Station in Malkajgiri Zone. The case followed a complaint filed by Bodda Samba Shiva Rao, a 24-year-old private employee.
Keesara dacoity gang lured victim and carried out robbery
Police said the incident occurred on April 6 at around 7:30 pm near Srinivas Nagar Colony in Rampally village. An unidentified person in a car approached the complainant and asked for directions. He then persuaded the victim to enter the vehicle on the pretext of urgency.
The vehicle moved towards Ghatkesar, where four more persons joined. The group later drove to Bacharam village in Abdullapurmet via the Outer Ring Road. There, they forced the victim out of the car, assaulted him and robbed a gold chain weighing about 16 grams. After the robbery, the accused fled towards Nagole road.
Keesara dacoity gang used app-based modus operandi
Investigators said the accused formed a group and used the “Grinder” app to identify targets. They contacted victims, gained their trust and lured them into vehicles on false pretexts.
Subsequently, the gang transported victims to isolated locations near the Outer Ring Road. Other associates joined at these points to assist in the crime. The accused then threatened victims and recorded videos on mobile phones to intimidate them.
Police said the gang forcibly robbed gold ornaments and cash before escaping. Officials added that the choice of remote locations helped the accused avoid detection and flee quickly.
Keesara dacoity gang linked to multiple offences
Police said the accused were also involved in a similar case under Crime No. 211/2026 at Abdullapurmet Police Station. During the investigation, officers seized a gold chain weighing about 15 grams, a Swift Dzire car, a Vespa scooter and six mobile phones.
The arrested accused were identified as Kusuma Karthik, Ram Raja alias Kushal, Kandula Saiteja, Gandla Sravan, and Macherla Pawan Kalyan. Another accused, Bablu Singh, remained absconding.
Police said some of the accused had prior criminal records. They noted that Kusuma Karthik, Kandula Saiteja and Macherla Pawan Kalyan were habitual offenders involved in property and NDPS-related offences.
Officials said authorities handed over the accused to Keesara Police Station for further legal action.
