Kavitha detained during protest over Velugumatla demolitions

Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi president and former MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha staged a protest with demolition victims at Velugumatla in Khammam district.

Police detained Kavitha during the protest. They also took Dharmasamaj Party president Dr Visharadhan Maharaj into custody.

The protest triggered heavy traffic congestion in the area.

Earlier, the Telangana Jagruthi leader addressed the victims and assured them of her support.

She said she would stand with them until authorities deliver justice.

The BRS leader criticised the government for ignoring the victims’ problems.

She also said the government had not provided medical assistance to affected families.

Later, she led a protest at the ZP junction in Khammam.

Protesters sat on the road and demanded justice for the demolition victims.

Traffic soon piled up on both sides of the junction.

Police reached the spot and detained the protesters.

Supporters present at the site raised slogans and continued the protest.
