Kavitha cites CAG report, targets Congress over Telangana finances

Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruti president K. Kavitha cited the CAG report to criticise the State government, alleging deterioration in financial management.

In a social media post, Kavitha said the Congress government pushed Telangana into a situation where it depended on the Reserve Bank of India for daily expenses. She referred to the CAG 2024-25 report to support her claims.

She said the government relied on Ways and Means Advances, Special Drawing Facilities and overdrafts for 363 days in the financial year. According to her, the State raised ₹1.30 lakh crore through such borrowings.

Kavitha flags concerns over State finances

Kavitha said the government failed to repay about ₹6,000 crore by March 31, 2025. She added that despite having monthly revenues of around ₹12,000 crore, the treasury struggled to maintain even minimum daily balance.

She alleged that the government increased debt to ₹8.65 lakh crore. As a result, she claimed that each family carried a burden of nearly ₹9 lakh.

Kavitha also criticised the government for claiming a surplus budget. She said such claims misled the public in view of the financial situation highlighted in the report.

She further stated that promises made before elections about increasing wealth and distributing it among the poor remained unfulfilled.
