Kaushik Reddy reacts after CID notice in remarks case

Hyderabad: CID issued a notice to BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy, asking him to appear for questioning over alleged remarks against the Karimnagar Police Commissioner.

Officials directed Kaushik Reddy to attend the inquiry on April 4 at the CID headquarters in Hyderabad. The case relates to comments made during an incident earlier this year.

Responding to the notice, Kaushik Reddy posted a message on social media expressing concern. He said authorities issued notices to target him and his family despite no wrongdoing.

He said the government was attempting to intimidate him for questioning its actions. However, he asserted that he would continue raising issues on behalf of the public.

He added that political actions should remain limited to him and not extend to his family. At the same time, he said he would not step back despite pressure.

According to officials, the case dates back to January 29 during the Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara. Police registered a case after alleging that Kaushik Reddy made objectionable remarks against the Commissioner during a tense situation.

Initially, local police handled the investigation. Subsequently, the government transferred the case to CID for further probe.

CID officials collected preliminary evidence before issuing the notice. They will record Kaushik Reddy’s statement during the scheduled inquiry.

The development has drawn political reactions. While BRS leaders termed it a targeted move, officials said the law would take its course.
