Hyderabad: Hunger strike protest was launched by BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy in Huzurabad against a proposed dumping yard, as the agitation intensified on Tuesday.
The MLA began a 24-hour fast, drawing large public participation. Women, youth, villagers and civil society groups joined the hunger strike protest, along with political leaders.
Protesters expressed concern over the proposed dumping yard and its impact on the local population. The gathering reflected growing opposition to the plan in the region.
Hunger strike protest gains public support
Kaushik Reddy said the dumping yard would pose serious risks to public health. He warned that it could contaminate groundwater and affect nearby habitations.
He demanded that authorities immediately roll back the proposal. According to him, the project would harm the environment and the well-being of residents.
Participants at the hunger strike raised slogans and extended support to the MLA. They said the issue affected the entire community.
Protest leaders said they would intensify the hunger strike protest if the government failed to respond. They reiterated their demand for cancellation of the dumping yard plan.
They added that further steps would be announced based on the government’s response. The leaders said the agitation would continue until authorities withdraw the proposal.
