Karnan reviews Pahadi Shareef e-waste drive

Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner R. V. Karnan reviewed the Pahadi Shareef e-waste drive during a field inspection in Jalpalli on Saturday and examined sanitation arrangements at the Eidgah ahead of Ramzan.

Karnan visited the area along with Zonal Commissioner Chandrakala. During the visit, officials briefed him about the ongoing Pahadi Shareef e-waste drive and the mechanisms in place for electronic waste collection.

The Commissioner inspected procedures related to the collection, handling and storage of electronic waste. He interacted with civic officials and reviewed measures being taken to streamline the disposal system.

Karnan stressed the need to increase public awareness about responsible electronic waste disposal. He said residents should use authorised collection centres to ensure proper handling of discarded electronic items.

According to him, systematic collection and processing of e-waste was essential to minimise environmental risks. He added that the initiative also supported sustainable waste management practices across the city.

Later, Karnan inspected the Eidgah premises at Pahadi Shareef and assessed sanitation conditions within the grounds and surrounding localities.

He directed officials to ensure that the Eidgah and adjoining areas remained clean and hygienic. The Commissioner said this was particularly important because large numbers of devotees were expected during the Ramzan festival.

Officials also briefed him on preparations underway for the upcoming festival. Karnan instructed them to complete all sanitation and civic arrangements on time to ensure convenience for visitors.

Measures strengthened during Pahadi Shareef e-waste drive inspection

During the inspection, Karnan directed officials to install dustbins at locations identified as frequent waste-dumping points. He said the move would discourage indiscriminate disposal of garbage and improve cleanliness in the locality.

The Commissioner also emphasised the importance of effective house-to-house garbage collection. In addition, he instructed sanitation teams to ensure regular cleaning of roads in the area.

Karnan further asked officials to identify and eliminate garbage vulnerable points across the locality. He said targeted action was necessary to maintain sustained civic hygiene.

He also stressed the need to raise public awareness about waste management practices. Residents should hand over their domestic waste only to Swachh Autos to ensure proper collection and disposal, he added.

The Commissioner said coordinated sanitation measures and public cooperation were essential to maintain cleanliness during the festival period. The review of the Pahadi Shareef e-waste drive and sanitation arrangements formed part of the city’s broader civic management efforts ahead of Ramzan.
