Hyderabad: GHMC commissioner R.V. Karnan directed town planning officials to expedite the clearance of building permits and improve efficiency in service delivery. He emphasised accountability, timely processing, and a citizen-centric approach.
At a review meeting held at the GHMC head office, Karnan assessed the performance of the Town Planning Wing across different zones and circles. He instructed officials to clear pending building permits, occupancy certificates, court cases, public grievances, and Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) applications without delay. He also stressed the immediate need to vacate residents from unsafe houses to prevent accidents.

Taking a stern view of violations, Karnan warned against unauthorized cellar excavations carried out without approvals and directed strict enforcement. He noted the satisfactory performance of the Town Planning Wing so far but urged further improvements in transparency, efficiency, and public trust.
