Kavitha attends Jyothirao Phule birth anniversary event at Telangana Jagruthi office

Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha took part in celebrations marking the Jyothirao Phule birth anniversary at the organisation’s office. On the Jyothirao Phule birth anniversary, she said achieving a “Social Telangana” would be the true tribute to the reformer.

The organisation held the Jayanti celebrations on a large scale. Kavitha attended the programme and addressed participants during the event.

She said Mahatma Jyotiba Phule’s ideals continue to guide social movements. According to Kavitha, Telangana Jagruthi pursues the goal of building a socially just Telangana. Sustained efforts, she said, remain necessary to achieve that objective.

Quoting the reformer’s message, Kavitha said, “Rights aren’t given, they are taken by those with the courage to stand up.” She added that education and representation remain key tools against inequality. These principles, she noted, shape ongoing efforts for social justice.

Further, she reiterated her commitment to carry forward Phule’s legacy. The demand for women’s reservation, she said, requires stronger safeguards. In particular, she stated that 33% reservation for women remains incomplete without an OBC sub-quota.

Calling it a constitutional right, she said the demand is not a favour. She also urged preparedness for continued struggle to secure these provisions.
