Hyderabad: A night of binge drinking ended in bloodshed at Ittupalli village in Jagtial district, where a long-simmering land dispute between two brothers took a deadly turn. One man was killed after being bludgeoned by his younger brother in a fit of rage.
The incident occurred late Thursday during local Bonalu festivities. According to police and villagers, Koon Narsayya and his younger brother Ramulu, both residents of Ittupalli in Pegadapalli mandal, had a history of quarrels over ancestral land. Though tempers had flared before, things spiralled out of control after the two consumed large quantities of alcohol that evening.
As the argument escalated, Ramulu reportedly picked up a stick and struck Narsayya on the head. The blow was so severe that Narsayya died on the spot. Villagers who witnessed the altercation immediately alerted the police.
A team from the local station reached the scene and conducted a preliminary investigation before moving the body to the Jagtial Government Hospital for post-mortem. Police registered a case based on a complaint filed by Narsayya’s wife, Rajavva.
Ramulu, who is said to have fled the scene after the attack, is now being tracked by authorities. Police said the investigation is underway and further action will be taken once the autopsy report is available.
