Hyderabad: Police busted an IPL betting racket in Echoda mandal of Adilabad district and arrested 10 persons during a late-night raid.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided a colony and caught the accused while they were placing bets on cricket matches. As a result, officers seized three motorcycles, nine mobile phones and ₹4,470 in cash.
The arrested were identified as Golusula Ajay, Dandugula Murali, Jadhav Ramu, Kamble Akash, Sidam Ravi, Kamble Raj Kumar, Kamble Arun, Dasanna, Seepelli Srinivas and Kamble Shashikumar, all residents of Echoda mandal.
IPL betting racket exposed in Adilabad district
Echoda Inspector Bandari Raju said police acted on credible information before conducting the raid. Subsequently, they took all accused into custody.
He warned the public against indulging in such betting activities. At the same time, he said police would take strict action against offenders.
He added that officials were monitoring habitual offenders to prevent such activities.
