Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department has issued a high alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall across Telangana till July 26, attributing the forecast to a low-pressure system forming over the Bay of Bengal.
According to the IMD, the developing weather system is expected to intensify into a depression by Thursday, triggering widespread rains across the state, including in Hyderabad.
On Wednesday, intense downpours were recorded in districts such as Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Vikarabad, Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Siddipet, and Bhadradri Kothagudem.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty winds, and heavy showers are likely on Thursday in Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial, Mulugu, Kothagudem, Khammam, and Vikarabad.
Severe rainfall may occur in Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Peddapalli, Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal, and Hanamkonda districts on Friday.
Authorities have urged residents to stay cautious, especially in low-lying areas, and advised against unnecessary travel during the alert period.
