Hyderabad: Police busted an illegal pickle unit in Jiyaguda and seized unhygienic stock worth ₹3 lakh during a raid conducted by the Commissioner’s Task Force and Kulsumpura Police. The illegal pickle unit operated without a licence and supplied unsafe products to local markets.
Officers apprehended K. Ravinder, 62, who ran the pickle business from Venkatesh Nagar in Jiyaguda. He manufactured multiple varieties of pickles under unhygienic conditions and used low-grade raw materials.

Police said the accused prepared red chilli, amla, tomato, and lemon pickles without maintaining basic hygiene standards. Moreover, he stored stale mangoes and lemons in rock salt for preservation without authorisation. These products were then supplied to kirana stores, general shops, restaurants, and hotels.
Acting on a tip-off, the task force team conducted surveillance. Subsequently, officers raided the premises and seized large quantities of pickle stock. The illegal pickle unit stored goods in drums under unsafe conditions, posing health risks to consumers.
Police seized 15 drums of red chilli pickle weighing 2,400 kg and two drums of amla pickle weighing 320 kg. They also recovered nine drums of tomato water, weighing 1,440 kg, and one drum of tomato pickle, weighing 160 kg. In addition, officers found one drum of lemon pickle and two drums of dol lemon weighing 320 kg.
Furthermore, the team seized 13 drums of preserved mango with rock salt, weighing 2,080 kg, and 13 drums of preserved lemon with rock salt, weighing 2,080 kg. The total value of the seized property stood at ₹3,00,000.
Officials said the accused endangered public health by distributing contaminated food products. Therefore, police registered a case under Crime No. 90/2026 under Sections 318(1), 274, and 275 of BNS at Kulsumpura Police Station.
Additional DCP Ande Srinivasa Rao supervised the operation. Inspector R. Venkatesh of the Task Force, Inspector A. Ramulu of Kulsumpura, SI K. Venkatramana, SI K. Swetha, and staff executed the raid.
